When one's thoughts turn to Anne... with an 'e'
I've been thinking about Anne of Green Gables lately, I think part of it has been a local tv station having promos for when they will show the movies. It seems to be a tradition for them to have a "marath-anne" every summer. I don't remember how long ago I discovered Anne Shirley and her imagination, but it was through the movies first. I enjoyed her life in Avonlee and while she was imagining the lady of Chalot, I was imagining being there with Anne; when Anne was repulsed by Gilbert's overtures, I was rooting for him. I eventually read the books and have found them to be a delight, who wouldn't enjoy more Anne?
So now when so many refrences to Anne keep popping up, I find myself debating a marath-anne of my own and whether it should be movies or books. Right now it sort of seems like the movies will win, at least I'll get to them first, there's just too many other books that have priority over Anne. I'm looking foreward to my marath-anne and I encourage you to do the same.
P.S. Beware though, ever since I first met Anne, I've been converted to Anne with an 'e' and A-n-n has looked simply dreadful to me.

Elementary
For years I've been indifferent to Sherlock Holmes and the adventures that he and Dr. Watson recount, but recently I've been reading The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, and I've been enjoying it. I had a perception that I wasn't a big fan of mysteries but now I suppose I must confess to enjoying them quite a lot, or maybe it's crime fiction that I enjoy... who knows.
Holmes probably would.

Food for Thought
"O thou who sleepest, what is sleep? Sleep resembles death. Oh, why not let thy work be such that after death thou mayst retain a resemblance to perfect life, rather than durring life make thyself resemble the hapless dead by sleeping."

Cooking
I like to watch cooking shows, even if there's nothing on the show that I would think of eating, I love to watch a good cooking show. A prime example of this is Tommy Tang, I love his cooking show, it's very funny and entertaining, I'm not sure I've seen anything yet that I'd want to eat on his show (Thai cooking seems to be a lot spicier than my tastes), but I enjoy it.
I love watching Cooking with Julia and Jacques, Julia Child was a funny lady and she and Jacques Pepin (sp?) were very funny together. When we were watching it on Saturday Jacques was using some sort of English cheese that was reddish orange and Julia was calling it "weirdy cheese".
I don't really know why I enjoy cooking shows so much but I do. I'm excited to try a recipe tonight that I saw on another favorite cooking show Everyday Food.
